I had planned to post a new "Message" today regarding Federal Register Notices and legislation but the Act of War perpetrated against us has consumed my attention, as I am sure it has yours.
I believe that President Bush will lead America well in this War against Terrorism. I am hearing callers on radio talk shows and TV news hosts making statements about Bush's not giving "us" more information about his specific plans. Peter Jennings raised the question if Bush is "up to" the job. We need to remind those folks that no good leader or military tactition gives his battle plans to the enemy. Battle Plans stay in the War Room until they are implemented.
Our nation's military was starving and out of gas and ammunition, and our "intelligence" agencies were in deplorable condition when he took office. He has had to purge the FBI of spies and God only knows what else. He has a plan and WILL bring the perpetrators to justice. He has declared War on terrorism and the countries who give them aid and assistance.
U.S. Congressman George Radanovich just reported on Fresno's CBS-affiliate radio that Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Bob Mueller met with Congress today and briefed them on the situation. They are hot on the trail. I have no doubts that they will be successful and America will prevail. We're good at that.
As the investigation unfolds and more cell-phone calls from passengers are made public, we are meeting more and more American heroes - the crews and passengers of the hijacked airliners. Sadly, we will never know about all the heroic acts they performed.
In the Pentagon crash they are saying the intended target was the White House but it was "diverted" into the Pentagon instead. A cell-phone call from that plane alerted the U.S. that Air Force One was also a target. They wanted to kill our President, and destroy our seat of government.
In the Pennsylvania crash, a cell-phone caller reported that there was a fight among the passengers - then the phone went dead. Agents believe, as I do, that passengers over-took the terrorists and diverted the plane so that it crashed in an uninhabited rural area. The intended target is believed to have been the White House, Air Force One or the Air Force base near-by. Hopefully, when they recover the "black box" recorder we will get the rest of the facts. One can only imagine what went through the minds of passengers and crews once they knew the terrorists' intent. Most former hijackers wanted to be taken to Cuba, etc. But these Americans were indeed victims of an Act of War and I believe they are heroes. They kept their presence of mind and took action to defend our country the only way they could, knowing there was no escape. As the stories are told we should ask our Congress and the White House to find a special way to recognize them and their heroism.
I hope I can get back to business tomorrow. I do want to give you all my new contact information. I will be in California until late winter or so.
