The Freedom21 Campaign

In December, 1999, a small group of concerned Americans met in Washington, DC, to explore ways and strategies to increase the effectiveness of the grassroots property rights, and the resource-use movement. Recognizing that the movement was defined primarily by its opposition to ever-increasing regulations, the group decided that we need to not only be "against" those policies which infringe freedom; we must also advance those principles which insure our freedom. Freedom21 is an effort to identify, and reinstate those principles into public policy at every level of governance.

Freedom21 is not an organization; it is a campaign in which organizations across the country, and, increasingly, around the world, may undertake activities to promote and advance the principles of freedom in their own communities.

Freedom21 is conceived to be an on-going celebration of the principles of self-governance that empower America.

The idea is simple: organizations that embrace the principles of freedom defend those principles, by advancing a positive freedom agenda at every level of public policy.

The battle plan is simple: encourage organizations to share their expertise in issue areas to provide guidance for more effective results from supporting organizations.

This strategy is bringing together the nation's leaders on a variety of issues essential to freedom, while providing structural flexibility that actually makes it easy for individuals and organizations to work together - without giving up an ounce of authority or organizational integrity.

Freedom21 Resolution

WHEREAS individual freedom is among the highest of human aspirations; and

WHEREAS individuals bear the responsibility of exercising and defending freedom; and

WHEREAS freedom is defined differently by different societies; and

WHEREAS it is imperative that a campaign to advance the principles of freedom be constructed upon a solid foundation of mutual agreement, now

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following principles of freedom be adopted by the Freedom21 Conference, meeting in St. Louis, Missouri, July 9-12, 2000:

1. People have inherent, natural, unalienable rights to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness - the foundations of sovereignty.

2. Governments exist expressly to protect these rights.

3. Governments derive power for the consent of the governed, to protect these rights.

4. Public policies, which constrain people's rights, must be enacted only by representatives elected by the people.

5. Constitutionally limited government is the best form of government.

6. That government is best which governs least.

7. No foreign government shall supersede the authority of the government of the United States of America.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these principles be advanced through projects and programs of participating organizations, and by the activities of individuals who share the belief that these principles are the foundation of freedom.

DONE THIS, the 12th DAY of JULY, 2000. by the people assembled in St. Louis, Missouri, as participants in the Freedom21 National Conference.

The "Principles of Freedom" were adopted by the very first Freedom21 National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2000. As simple as it might seem, it was not. Much debate, discussion, and compromise resulted in these Principles. When adopted, they provided a common starting point that is a fountainhead of what is yet to be done.

The next major project was the creation of Freedom21 Alternative to Agenda 21. This extensive document builds upon the principles of freedom, translating those principles into concrete policy recommendations that provide guidance for policy makers and advocates alike. The contrast between Agenda 21 and the Freedom21 Alternative to Agenda 21, is striking. This document too, represents the work of several prominent freedom fighters whose ideas and work have been debated, discussed, and compromised into a valid, easily understandable basis for the development of a freedom agenda at the local level of government, or at the international community level.

National Conferences

Freedom work rarely draws a big crowd, but it does draw sincere people who continually seek ways to improve effectiveness, and to recharge their batteries. This year will represent the 8th Freedom21 National Conference, which will be held at the Crowne Plaza, Dallas Near the Galleria, located in Addison, Texas, just north of Dallas proper, on July 19-21, 2007.

The Conference will focus on the North American Union (NAU), the Security Prosperity Partnership (SPP), the Trans-Texas Coridor (TTC), illegal imigration, and the effect these actions will have on national sovereignty and private property rights.

The program is still being developed at this time, but promisses to be one of the most important conferences ever. The next issue of the eco•logic Powerhouse will have more information on the Conference, along with registration and hotel information. You will not want to miss this very informative conference.

In the past, we have met twice in St. Louis; twice in Nashville; twice in Reno; and once in Northern Kentucky near Cincinnati, OH.
